How did the project start?
Rufus were approached by IG Muscle to create a brand and an easy to use website which would be able to sell products securely online and provide users with information and articles on fitness, diet and body building. The first meetings enabled Rufus to understand that launching and then building an online community would benefit the brand and website. Developing forums and supplying regular news and articles would keep the website fresh.
What options did you consider?
A number of options in terms of the development of the website were considered with ease of use and the security of online payments being the main issues for consideration. Rufus opted to use the open source Joomla Content Management System. GeoTrust were chosen to provide the online security (SSL) and the payment options of Google Checkout and PayPal were identified as a must.
What help and expertise did you receive?
No help was required. Rufus handled the website design and build.
Did you face and challenges or learn any lessons?
The website has many elements to it including the eCommerce, Latest News and Forum sections. There wasn't a specific budget for search engine optimisation but the website contains search engine friendly urls, xml sitemaps, integration with Google and Yahoo sitemaps, RSS feeds integration into Google Base and having both PayPal and Google Checkout as payment options. Integration into Google Checkout was a major challenge as this was the first time we had used this service.
What are the outcomes and how has it improved your business?
IG Muscle has a website which sells products securely online and has the potential to have a thriving online community. Being able to refer customers to the website enables IG Muscle to have a 24 hour a day shop window. New products can be added to the website using the Content Management System.
What are your plans for the future?
With hard work and further online promotional techniques, IG Muscle hopes to build on the initial success with launching the website.
